What we offer
Dr. Murphy is offering the following services via video and in-person appointments to residents of New York State.
Initial consultation
We offer a free 15-minute phone consultation to help determine whether our practice is a good fit for your needs. This brief conversation is an opportunity to share what you’re looking for in treatment, ask any questions you may have, and learn more about our approach. There’s no obligation—just a chance to connect, clarify next steps, and ensure we’re the right match to support your goals.
Evaluations
A psychiatric evaluation is a comprehensive initial appointment where we take time to understand your current concerns, personal history, and goals for treatment. This includes discussing symptoms, past experiences, medical background, and any previous mental health care. The goal is to develop a thoughtful, individualized plan—whether that involves therapy, medication, or both—to support your well-being moving forward.
Psychotherapy
Psychotherapy offers a space to explore thoughts, emotions, and patterns of behavior in a supportive, nonjudgmental environment. Dr. Murphy provides both supportive therapy—which focuses on building coping skills, improving self-esteem, and managing day-to-day challenges—and psychodynamic therapy, which takes a deeper look at how past experiences and unconscious processes shape your current relationships and emotional life. Together, these approaches can help foster greater insight, emotional resilience, and meaningful change.
Medication
When appropriate, medication can be a valuable part of treatment for conditions like depression, anxiety, and other mood-related concerns. Dr. Murphy takes a thoughtful, individualized approach to prescribing, focusing on finding the right medication at the most appropriate dose. Medication management appointments include careful monitoring of symptoms, side effects, and overall progress, as well as open discussion about any concerns. Decisions are made collaboratively, with the goal of supporting your well-being in a safe and sustainable way.
